Well, it's my favorite Tellurian TV show. If it isn't yours too, it probably just means you haven't seen it. For those who don't know, there is discussion about it at: m2i:http://www.shadowunit.org/smf/index.php

I finally managed to find free time, and watched the first episode of this show.

Very interesting. I think I need to watch it again, I think there may have been some subtext that completely missed me.

What genre would this show be classified as?

Mags

It's multi-genre, being a sci-fi/horror police procedural.

Oh, and Mags, if you want to check out the boards, we set one up for Splash to ask us questions about the cultural differences.

Specifically, this one:
m2i:http://www.shadowunit.org/smf/index.php?topic=481.0

It's kind of buried down in the depths.

That would be it.
It is weirdly quiet on the boards today, isn't it? Here and there.

Well, I just got up! Give me a chance to get fully charged and awake! A girl needs her morning routine, you know.

Wake up, make love, get morning cuppa, check the mesh, hygenate, eat, chat. In that usual order. Most of the time.

Yes, though here had a late burst (Hi Mags!).

Very strange having the only posts on the SU board today be in the Bacon Pie thread (and just between you and Jim except for nyarlathotep's proposal which started it all). Post-holiday burnout, I guess.

"hygenate" is my new favorite word.

I'm trying this new thing where I don't post without something useful to say. Radical, but it just might work!

Don't do that! The boards would be so much less entertaining!

So what you're saying is that you agree that my usual posts are fluffy and pointless?

Hrmph.

::flounces off::

No really, I just got hammered at work. My students are brilliant, but they're also energy vampires.

No, no. I was surprised that you would even THINK that your usual posts are fluffy and pointless.

(In the communication business, that's called a "save.")

Over on the Voices blog, there was some discussion of "stand up on it," which is Chaz's LJ name, obviously from an exchange between Chaz and Hafs about rock climbing. The thing is, I don't get it in either context; I don't know why it is significant; I'm guessing it's cultural as well as contextual. Can someone explain?

Weeeelll... *SPOILER ALERT* "stand up on it" is an exhortation of rock climbers, that if they stand up on that foothold, they'll be able to reach the handhold and keep going. Daphne used it to great effect in the season finale. I'll leave it there, and let you go read it.

It's not a widely-known phrase even on Tellus, so someone asked on the SU boards and got a good explanation there.

The sense of the phrase in general use is surprisingly close to your signature quote, Splash.

Daphne. Daphne. Why did I say Hafs? I knew how it was used, just didn't get it; thanks for the explanation. I'll blame my memory lapse on drugs; I haven't done any in two phases.

Jeff: Ahhhhh....interesting.

Also, if a rock falls on you, you have a choice between letting it crush you and using it to get where you're going. (Figurative rocks! I haz dem!)

Hello, Zayzans! I gather the M2I is down again. I hope you're able to get the WTF Network, anyway--we just got the season premiere of Shadow Unit. You won't be surprised to hear that it was really, really good.
